Northwest Arkansas Conservation Authority is an Arkansas sanitation authority organized in 2002 for disposing of wastewater and sewer for customers in Benton and Washington County, two of the fastest growing counties in the state. The Authority was in need of securing property for a new wastewater treatment plant; however, being a newly formed entity, the Authority had no cash reserves nor revenues in order to secure the property.
Crews utilized its parent company, First Security Bank, in securing financing for the property ahead of the financing of the project. It was crucial to be able to acquire the property in order to finalize engineering work of the new wastewater treatment plant. After the property and engineering was complete, Crews worked with the Authority to underwrite wastewater revenue bonds to finance the project and to pay-off the loan from First Security.
